Re:Junglist & Goths - 2006/06/01 16:32
segregated, the junglists had a very different attitude / dress / dance style than other ravers. They wore a lot of camo and earth tones, mostly didn`t do e, knew a lot about the music, hated trance, hated house, hated candy kids, etc. At the all-jungle parties, the people who went rarely went to non-jungle events, and vice versa. At larger (2+ room) parties, if there was a jungle room, it was tiny... jungle DJs never played the main stage at mixed parties. That kind of stopped happening around here (philly + baltimore) though in recent times. Jungle isn`t really segregated much now, and the whole "jaded junglist" faction mostly doesn`t exist here anymore. Oddly enough, candy kids don`t really exist here anymore either. The scene here is a lot more unified now, for better of worse -- it`s all just one generic party kid / raver style without subdivisions of junglists, candy kids, etc. hate it, mostly because they just hate anything at all related to trance or ravers... sigh. But most goths I`ve met probably simply haven`t been exposed to psy-trance at all. Around here, there aren`t any psy-trance DJs or promoters. definitely understand what you mean. I can`t really put my finger on the similarity, maybe it`s just something in the dark atmosphere. I definitely love goa/psy-trance though (even though I hate most other trance)... and I love good industrial, darkwave, and synthpop too.
