How are things going with raves and in alt.rave? - 2006/05/28 20:55 Well it`s been a while since I posted anything here. It seems that the the whole rave thing is dying in Indy. Maybe I am just not aware of things as much (due to working days and not nights, I tend to not remember looking into night happenings). Most of the people I know that did rave I lost contact with. Though I only went to a handfull or raves like 2 years ago, I have always like electronic dance music. I am not sure if it`s old age or what, but I have been serious about making some money to buy a home. Due to this I haven`t bought CDs in months. I am tending to think buying music is just plain nuts when it can be heard on the radio. Speaking of radio, I have gotten away from music (it`s all the same hip-hop songs, this one Indy station plays Fat Joe and Ashanti every other song) and have been turning to talk radio more. I think in a year or so I might consider XM radio. Anyone know if the dance stations are any good? There is a good techno show on 103.3 FM, I forget the times though. I think it`s Sat. night. I guess a station in Ft. Wayne Indiana purchased the show a couple of months ago, so it`s growing. So, is raving in Indy dead or not?

Re:How are things going with raves and in alt.rave? - 2006/05/29 02:37 It`s been quite a while since I posted anything here, too. I am from Detroit and partied hard during the 1998/99 years, especially 1999! I used to own an old building and we had many a rave there! Just as things were dying down in Detroit, I moved to sunny Florida! The scene here is never ending. I have found everything from underground parties to major club scenes. The clubs are pricy, but the party never dies. Some clubs don`t open until 5:00 AM! The Electronic Music Festival in Miami this spring was awesome! Almost 30,000 people were estimated to have attended. It was an all day party with 10 stages located on the oceans edge right in downtown Miami. Skyscrapers on one side, ocean on the other. Palm trees blowing in the breeze! Paul Okenfold, Crystal method and dozens of others played. It was incredible. Anyway, to make a long story short....get the fuck out of the midwest! Move to where the action is! Beautiful people, beautiful beaches, endless partying! The midwest is dead. If you stay there, you`ll die with it! Go to http://party931.com and listen to some music and start planning on coming down for the next annual music festival!

Re:How are things going with raves and in alt.rave? - 2006/05/29 05:08 the local public access station is playing jazz. npr is good as far as talk radio goes. most fm commercial radio stations these days are all owned by one conglomerate or another and stick to the same redundant playlist no matter what. gotta clock them dollas yanno .

Re:How are things going with raves and in alt.rave? - 2006/05/29 06:19 The Midwest is NOT dead.
The Detroit Electronic Music Festival had record turnouts. I had to leave because I couldn`t *move*. _Literally_ shoulder to shoulder.
Maybe it`s because I dig the snow. Maybe it`s because I was born in Flint, and have experienced living in Clio, Detroit suburbia, and in Lansing, but Michigan is NOT dead.
If you stay here, you may die, but you may help create something amazing.
If you move, you have the same options.

Re:How are things going with raves and in alt.rave? - 2006/05/29 08:17 I don`t miss the snow one bit.............I miss some of the people, but not the dreary weather. The midwest has produced some of the best people I have ever met. It`s a shame they can`t pick it up and move it to a nicer climate......
