OT: X-Posting - 2006/05/27 05:51Who invented crossposting and why? It seems like all it`s good for is spamming, trolling, and accidentally misdirected arguments. For those of you who post something to alt.rave along with something else (be it alt.music.makers or alt.drugs.psychedelics or whatever), *please* consider the ramifications of your actions before you do so. signal-to-noise ratio by creating some more signal.

I think I have enough on-topic posts to my credit...especially of late. Most of the regulars have "grown up", and don`t go to many parties, and/or they just don`t feel like posting anymore for some reason...we all know that there are a lot of used-to-be semi-regulars that still lurk in here. Yet no one posts...no one really cares to share their experiences, or whatnot. I certainly *hope* not! Understand that, just like with the scene at large, anyone`s *individual* actions affect everyone else. I`m not directing this at any one person, nor am I asking anyone to necessarily stop what they`re doing. No, my request is simple, and I`ll say it again. Please consider the ramifications of your actions. If you want to x-post to alt.music.nsync because you think the topic warrants it, I have no power to stop you. But likewise, don`t be surprised when we start to get x-posted garbage about who`s cuter, Justin or Chris. If you want alt.rave to survive and flourish (again, this is directed toward *everyone*) you have to be willing to contribute to the solution. The solution here is creating legitimate content and substance to this
some of you think that what we`ve got *is not* let`s see some *is* out there.

How many threads, besides spam, have there been in the last few months besides mine? The only other posts are people asking for song IDs, really. It isn`t a matter of spam, it is a matter of very little posting, period. The place is dead. You can blame me if you want...I was blamed for the flux split-off, too...even though flux split before I even started posting.
