5/16 - Friday, May 16 in the Baltimore, MD. area ( - 2008/05/15 19:10No flyers because Baltimore if about 60 miles (about 96KM) from where I live. With my regular job, I can't travel back and forth to Baltimore (I may fall asleep while driving), but I've been posting on myspace, message boards, and advertised in newspapers in the area.
There is a buzz for the event, but how strong, I don't know.

Thanks for the support but the night was a bummer. No one from message boards or advertisments showed up There were rock bands playing downstairs and sometimes the people would come upstairs to listen to our tunes.
It was a learning experience. Basically, if I do this again, I'll be doing it IN the city. Baltimore is a big city and Dundalk (the place for the event) is about three miles away. It's not far, but doing an event in a big city would be better.

Anyway, I think you are right, the big city definitely sounds more 'cool' to go out in - so probably more people will turn up as well.
In any case you are having great mixes so the only thing you will -if you don't mind me saying so- have to improve on is P.R. probably etc.

The reason I tried the event is because I felt the time is right.
The youtube videos and my myspace are getting a lot of love. I'm getting a lot of plays/downloads on my mixes.
I play in small spots here in the area so people have seen my name on internet flyers.
The fact that I did the party get's my name out there also.
All this takes time and is a hustle and a struggle. I'm very lucky that I enjoy playing the music. If I was doing this as a job, then I would really be bummed! LOL!
Eventhought there were about 10 people in the venue last night, I was playing like if it was for 10,000. Dancing grooving, swaping bass lines all that good stuff. Also, the more I play out, the more comfortable I get playing in different places.
