this board is a microcosm of this "scene." - 2006/07/10 23:10 so i only occasionally stop by here these days, but let`s focus on key words from the last, oh, say 12 subject topics...
"phat new rave drug", "looking for drugs", "rolling", "is mdma the blue pill?", "is mdma the blue pill" (reprise). seriously, gimme a break. this is why the whole rave scene has been ruined in this country. and yeah i`m sure there`s low profile underground happenings where the vibe is still alive or whatever, but the scene in general is toast and i think you know it. drugs are a part of just about any musical gathering or environment, but nowhere else are they anywhere near as prolific as in this one. and i`m from the phish community and believe me we have our own similar problems, but nothing like this. i just wish that the focus could go back to unity through dance, and the music. i know there`s people out there that still care about these facets but unfortunately this scene has been exposed to a higher number of people who are only interested in the chemical aspect. that`s truly disheartening because i love the concept of parties, i just don`t love parties. anyhow i just had to express these feelings, much love whether you agree or not.

Re:this board is a microcosm of this "scene." - 2006/07/11 00:26 parties. Last time I rolled at a party was 2 years ago.
I AM against the concept of glorifying drug use in the party scene. And I`m VERY against people who insist they MUST do drugs at a party to have fun. That`s BS. If you can`t enjoy the party sober, I think it says a lot about you....
- It says that you can`t have fun JUST by dancing a whole night.
- It says you can`t truly enjoy electronic music in a sober state.
- It says that you can`t interact with other ravers without the aid of substances.
I think that`s horrible. What do YOU think? legilation like the blatantly unconstitutional "R.A.V.E. act". Legislaters think that all ravers are just drug abusers, who go to raves strictly to use and buy/sell drugs. That may be a true assessment in your case, but it`s not fair for the rest of us.

Re:this board is a microcosm of this "scene." - 2006/07/11 13:08 for the sake of brevity.
You said: Raves are modern forms of drug-induced tribal gatherings, drugs are part of the human experience, etc.
I said: If you require the use of drugs *every time* at this sort of gathering, it clearly shows that you can`t enjoy the party sober, can`t enjoy dancing a whole night sober, can`t socialize with ravers while sober, can`t fully enjoy electronic music sober.
A rave is not completely analagous to an ancient tribal drug gathering. The key difference is that drugs are not the central aspect of raves. You can remove the drugs and still have a rave. You *cannot* remove the music or dancing, though.
You have failed to reply to any of these points. If there`s any points of yours that you think I skipped first, please let me know and I`d be happy to address them.

Re:this board is a microcosm of this "scene." - 2006/07/11 13:50 ancients... why can`t you let people be. if the ancients knew about one thing it was about communing with god and nature and if they used drugs, i don`t see why we have to reinvent the wheel, i`m gonna trust them, you don`t have to but i do. octinomos.endemoneado

Re:this board is a microcosm of this "scene." - 2006/07/11 20:13 Ancient people thought the world was flat. What do they know that`s so special? They lived in a world of ignorance, utterly devoid of science. the issues at hand. If you think drugs are better than sliced bread, cool, you can think what you`d like. But *idealism* doesn`t stop governments from destroying our scene.
Why all the trust in ancient civilizations? Just about every great ancient civilization in the history of mankind has crumbled or been replaced.
Now, I ask again, do you think it`s a good thing that you`re unable to interact with other ravers in a sober state? And likewise unable to enjoy the dancing or music? Is your heart really in this scene, or are you in it strictly because of your addiction to chemicals?
You seem completely opposed to partying sober. Why? Would you find a rave to be boring / not fun without being under the influence of something? If so, it would seem that what you enjoy is the chemical, NOT the rave.
Recreational drugs are fun, sure. Sometimes they`re even therapeutic or spiritual. But in the grand scheme of things, how many e-tards have made any effort towards world peace? How many acid heads have written great works of philosophy?
