Helping The Zoo Project’s sister night Channel Zoo to celebrate a sensational first season are labels Perlon and Freak n’Chic on Wednesday September 2nd 2009, and it will be an Ibiza closing party 2,500 clubbers will not forget.
More friendships are set to be forged and more memories are bound to be made as the disparate but unified Channel Zoo disciples gather one last time. Micro-house innovators Perlon and tastemaking tech-house label Freak n’Chic provide the soundtrack to another colourful and unique Label Showcase which, over the season, has seen the likes of Sven Vath pop by for a glimpse.
Both contemplative and functional, Perlon man Audio Werner produces rolling conga rhythms and jiggling techno which is mixed to great effect by DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos, and is at home everywhere from Time Warp to Watergate, so will go down perfectly at this closing party. Sammy Dee is set to spin his groovy, stripped back house sounds, too – as he has done for nearly 20 years – and will keep the floor thinking as much as dancing.
Representing the French label at this Channel Zoo closing party, there’ll be spacey tech from DJ and producer Shonky, groovy house from rising talent Dyed Soundorom who’s had a number of killer remixes and productions recently, and more drawn out and minimal sounds from Anthony Collins, on top of a closing party special – the Zoo residents DJing back-to-back.
Wednesday afternoons during Ibizan summers will never be the same again. The hills of Benimussa have come alive in 2009 with the hustle of voices and the bustle of beats. As the only open-air, carnival-esque party on the island has unfolded each week, the party has matured into truly unique beast offering the sort of atmosphere no one else has. But sadly, the late afternoon dancing amongst the memories of the abandoned zoo, the BBQs, fire shows, acrobatics, visuals and swimming pool fun must end but, of course, shall end as one of Ibiza 2009’s best closing parties…
