Buzzin' Fly Autumn Party @ Plastic People - OCT 23 - 2009/09/18 14:43 In spite of filling big venues in London, Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly returned to Plastic People (the iconic basement where they made their name in 2006) for two memorable summer parties this year. For some, the label's deep emotional sound and the warm embrace of Plastic People is a perfect match; each party sold out several weeks before the event. Now, just when it was thought their calendar was full, Plastic People have unexpectedly offered Buzzin' Fly one more Friday night before the end of year, and the label has grabbed the offer with both hands and chosen to mark the occasion with a fresh line-up that draws on its best young recent talent.

Topping the bill is the dynamic Parisien, Mademoiselle Caro. Known by some for her sublime electro-pop debut album with Perpignan-based collaborator Franck Garcia, she is also long-term resident DJ at Paris' illustrious Rex Club, where she has played with all the great European DJs, honing a fierce and blistering deep disco-tech style. Brimming with energy, she will electrify the Plastic People floor, as anyone who saw her dazzling Buzzin' Fly debut at The End last year (or at The Arches in February) will testify.

In counterbalance, the night offers Berlin-via-London's young gun Jay Shepheard. Originally making his mark on Germany's Compost Black Label with two super-fresh deep house EPs, his latest remix for Buzzin' Fly (Glimpse & Martin Eyerer's 'Southern Soul') has had the A-Listers salivating. On the floor, his fluid mixing skills and impeccable selections have marked him out as one of the scene's brightest talents. Flying back from Berlin for the occasion, it is a chance to see a young talent on the brink of major underground acclaim.

Joining the dots is Buzzin' Fly's 6-year resident, Chris Woodward. His DJ skills have never been in doubt, and he typifies the tender-tough Buzzin' Fly sound, but he is also finally emerging this year as a producer and remixer of note. M.A.N.D.Y. and many others applauded his 'Voyager' remix on Buzzin' Fly, and judging from recent crowd responses, his upcoming single for the label - a collaboration with Darkmountaingroup's Alex Santos - looks like being a major autumn highlight.
