Re:ALL DJ`S MUST NOW TURN IN THEIR GEAR!!! THE STATE DEPARTMENT HAS GONE BERSERK... - 2006/06/28 19:00
at how high the paranoia is raging in the US at the moment. This is not meant as a flame, but you guys evidently never knew the feeling of your homeland being attacked and everyone has lost his head since 9/11. It WAS the worst terrorist attack ever, and I feel very sorry for the people who lost their lives, and even more sorry for the people that stayd behind. But about 2000 people got killed in one blow. In our country, Rotterdam was bombarded and more than 20.000 people lost their lives in one day. The same goes for other cities in Holland (Arnhem, Den Haag, Leiden). I think the U.S. had a wrong perspective of the world because of that. The U.S. government saw the world as a playground (machinations in the middle-east have been going on since Nixon, I believe), but the playground bit back with a vengeance. I think Bin Laden was actually trying to say that the U.S. should fall back in line (in a gruesome way that I totally condemn. Bin Laden is a monster, but there are lots of more people that are applicants for that title), that it should at least be more discreet. What`s wrong with being more discreet and working together with the rest of the world? Bush is right in saying that Al-Qaida is OUR enemy too, but why doesn`t he work on the problem _together with us_? Why does Bush want to do it by himself, and even manages to piss off the whole Europe with his current economic measures? On the one side he is asking the world to help him, on the other side he is building an economic wall between Europe and the U.S. It doesn`t add up, and it scares us. I see a lot of impopular bills being pushed through parlaiment. They are not going to make things safer. What IS going to make things safer is to get public awareness of the problems and have more social control. But NOT in the way the American government is doing now (isn`t it called the CC?). Your government is currently creating some kind of STASI (the East-German social security police) to keep control of the population. It will be fairly easy for people to become a member of this CC, and these members will have some power over the rest of the population. A lot of these people are going to misuse their power to get some more power. It will probably do you more bad than good. We have learned the hard way that the way to GET social awareness is to TEACH it in school. How can you expect someone to have social awareness if he is never taught the values of it? I think Bill Clinton had some kind of notion of this, but Bush seems to understand _nothing_ about people. Bush only understands mechanisms and tries to impose order that way. That`s the thing the communist countries have tried for the past 90 years, and it didn`t work. The biggest problem with communism is that it totally ignores the human factor. And Bush is doing the same. My 0.02 eurocents . Bear in mind that this is MY perspective of the state of the current world. We have acces to totally different kinds of information, so your view probably differs from mine, and probably in some
