I`m currently moving out of my apartment, and last night I was peeling flyers off of my wall. I have them up in chronological order and as I went along the flyers were getting smaller and smaller and smaller. International headliners were replaced with national headliners, who were replaced with regional headliners, who were replaced with all local parties, etc. literature into "Reality Check!" raver service announcements to "Police Crackdown on Raves" articles to "Remember When?" nostalgia. By the end of my wall, I was a mess. I had seen the terrible decline of the last few years in the course of a half-hour and I just couldn`t shake the feeling that maybe we *had* reached the end.
Well, it`s amazing what a little sleep will do. This morning, I`m back on top of things and eager to setup my studio in my new house. I`ve got a big room, so I can move in my drumkit along with my jungle of keyboards and synth modules. What we`ve witnessed isn`t the end of the scene, it`s just a breather while we pack up our boxes and move into a bigger residence.
Next year, the party starts over in a brand new neighborhood. Everyone`s invited.
