For live mixing real turntables are still the best thing. For a beginner I`d recommend you try some cheap used turntables, just to see wether you really are willing to spend some real money. If you are then go and get Technics. For MP3 mixing I`d just get a good program. Progs like BPM studio are pretty good for that. You can easily change the pitch of the MP3 playing, and even pitch the cd. If you want to use two comps and a real mixer then you should see that the mixer has a good crossfader curve, there are some that just have a very sharp curve made for scratching. There also shouldn`t be a "gap" in the curve. Be carefull the guys sellign that stuff sometimes don`T know what they are talkign about. When i bought my mixer he told me there wouldn`t be a gap in the curve. If you notice that the volume of the one comp/record/whatever goes down before the other has reached it`s full volume you should be carefull. Hope this helps a litte. Dj Banshee
