This is a funny story I would like to share
I had a gig @ a un-named Polish Club in Bk. Hey a paying gig ,is a paying gig!
So I arrive @ the club:
The racist Security Sucked Dirty AZZ.. They were not going to let me in.
The guys spoke little English..and would not listen to me when I said "I am Playing here Tonight" All they could say is " Private Club Bob Marley, Private Club BOB Marley!(Cause of my Locs) I am gonna say this Those 2 guys were huge and looked crazy as hell, So I started to step off ... Then I see a flyer on the ground I picked up to get the number to call the club. I see it has my name & picture on it.
So I show them and they say sorry and let me in finally.
I gets in da club and.....
It's Hot as hell...
So packed it's hard to get through the crowd...
I could not find the manager to switch the system From the Juke Box over to the Dj Booth....
I already see this night is going to be very interesting already!
(Did I mention a very well paying GIG)
OK, OK, OK
So I get a drink and told the bartender Make mine a double....(My best Friend J. Daniels)
I get the booth and music going (Thank God for Q Harris R&B house Remixes)
Now I got my Buzz on and the crowd is Feeling me and my style of music.
So now we have a great party going, everyone is dancin and it's feeling real good to me.
After about a hour into my 4 hour set..
The club owner comes in the booth and proceeds to hand me a CD with Polish POP on it . He shows and tells me..SEE that Girl? She wants to hear this sh*T! So play it now! (Did I mention this is a very well paying GIG)
I look out @ the Dance Floor that was packed with pretty much everyone in the club, I was Rocking "Head phone Silence" and had a hot Jimpster track ready to play. Then he repeated what he just told me to do and says now!
Like always I do what the paying customer asks, as long as I am getting paid well. So I do as he asks....
OMG...this crap emptied the floor in 30 sec. The crowd was like what the F..are you doing? We were loving your music! One guy goes as far as saying: Why are you playing this Polish crap! If I wanted to hear Polish music I would have stayed back in Warsaw...
After the 4th song and pissing everyone off. I am told to go back to the House Music now. SOOOO how do I get the energy back up after that POP crap ? I pull out India's 'I can't Get No Sleep" (The CopyRight Mix) soon as they hear her sing , They start hitting the floor and people keep coming up to the booth to ask what happened? and thank you for the House music and to take pictures with me.
About a hour and a half later, the owner comes to me and says your a great dj can you leave CD's here to play during the week? and also the people love your music, even the the young lady that wanted Polish pop was excited and dancing.
Then he proceeds to say "My nephew here is a dj from Poland", I want him to play now! (Did I mention this is a very well paying GIG)
I let the song close out and I stepped away to let his nephew do his thing.
Let me tell you this kid sucked, I was outside smoking and folks are like why is he playing? after train wreck after train wreck Mixes.. I am told to go back on.
((By Now This very well Paying GIG is starting to really Bite))
I get back on and get it popping again....No less than 30 minutes go by, and he comes to me with a envelope with all my pay in it, I am like you could have waited till the end of the night, He replied "You are done" I am like everyone is dancing having fun. He wants his nephew back on to finish the night. Then says I really like this you play..what do you call it? I never hear it on the radio before and when your packed up come have some drinks with us @ our table "I want to talk to you" I am thinking great the guy is gonna have me back. I sit have 2 shots of vodka with him as he keeps saying your a great Dj. I am thinking I can't play here if it's alway like tonight, even for very good pay. He says OK thank you again great music and the customers loved you. But I can never let you play here again!!! everyone was dancing all night and not drinking @ the bar..we did not make alot!
That's why I need Dj's That SUCK
