Re:whats the difference between all the house styles? - 2006/07/15 05:33
always debate the precise meaning of those terms. My offering on Garage is this, firstly there are two main types of garage music, UK Garage and US Garage. I have a feeling only people in the UK called US Garage that. UK Garage is usually a two step beat, sung by predominantly black artists from the London area with a gangster theme. That`s as much as I know about that. US Garage, also often branded as house, is a direct descendant of the brand of music played at the Paradise Garage (hence the name) by the legendary Larry Levan who used to mix 70s disco tunes together. US Garage today sounds softer than the other types of music you`ve listed with more vocals, usually soul inspired. US Garage artists would include people such as Masters At Work, Full Intention, Jetlag etc. People may want to add to what I`ve said, it`s only a brief UK perspective. Hope it helps.
