Vynil vs Technology - 2006/11/13 14:19 I have this dicussion everytime i am surrounded by dj's & punters.

I always said that I am a vynil junkie, and will never go over to cdj's/ computer.... but I bought myself dj's a couple of weeks ago, and I am loving it.
Not just because the mp3 are cheaper... but I love dj'ing with my cdj's. Now I put the question out there....

Will vynil stood the test of time???
Or will the technology AKA Cdj's/Ableton/Final Scratch etc. etc. kill off vynils??!!

What do you guys think???

Re:Vynil vs Technology - 2006/11/13 23:49 No way the vynil will seriously go on.
All the young djs are using only electro-staff, which is easier to work with.
The vynil will be like the old records (remember the large black disk one used to dj with a gramophone, or whatever it was called :-D )

Can't wait to see what would be the next phase in the sound technology...

Re:Vynil vs Technology - 2006/11/15 08:44 I think the right way through all of this is to combine the vinyls with cds and/or computer (FS,Live,...) The reason is, that many tracks arent released so fast on vinyl as an mp3s. Djs will always want to play their actually best tracks in a set, not to wait lets say half a year for the tracks will be released on vinyl. But of course, vinyl will never dies

Re:Vynil vs Technology - 2006/11/15 18:26 Fellows, mark my words - "Today vinyl is yesterday's gramophone".
Technology rides and quite fast, young DJs are not used to vinyl and as recis said, no one is going to wait half a year to start spinning his sets

Re:Vynil vs Technology - 2006/11/23 15:39 I always said id be vinyl for ever but then i started playing out more and my bag got heavier

I decided to get a little cd deck give it a go and i havent looke back since .. i dont hurt my shoulder carrying my bag anymore .. i can carry a wider range (sometimes i do 6 hr sets overseas etc so cant take that much vinyl)

i can play my friends tracks out AND i can play my own and test them

i dont think id use a laptop yet i dont trust computers they always like to crash on me but cds have definatly replaced vinyl i can afford much mroe music now and i get loads more promos digitally sent

but i still have my old vinyl and technics and ill keep them for ever
