**BAR 54//DECEMBER LINE UP** - 2008/12/09 17:09
Bar 54 is certainly keeping up with its reputation as the coolest underground venue in the East End. After an amazing month that saw incredible guest DJs such as Zoo Brazil, SIS and Tom Neville grace the decks of the basement haven, 54 are back to pepper your festive season with some seriously storming nights out.
With upcoming events including Don’t Techno Sh!t, Kontakt, Formula and Muak fired up and ready to thrill, bringing along with them DJ legends such as Nathan Coles DJ Fudge and Paul Jackson you’ll be shaking it no further than Commercial Street this month.
With DJs and promoters alike banging down the door of the underground institution that is 54 to house their nights, you can rest assured that all selections are of the finest house quality and will nestle into the little red party box pretty dam nicely. The name 54 has long been associated with the coolest crowd, DJs and party mayhem and they have not let up as we move towards the end of 2008. Send the year out with a bang and spend your month partying away at one of East London’s hottest venues…here it goes….

Kontakt is back and bringing with them the house legend that is Nathan Coles. He initially earnt his stripes arranging the ‘Release’ warehouse parties with Mr. C in the early 90’s, if that doesn’t scream surefire rave heaven then nothing will. This guy learnt his trade through the heady years of 90’s raving and has been round the block more times than a 9 year old on a BMX. His unrivalled energy, knowledge of the decks and masters degree in partying add up to one seriously unmissable night of techno delight.

Miss Divine
DJ and producer Phil Drummond has been on the scene now for over 17 years, and has been responsible for the success of some of Londons hottest parties. His residency at after parties Retox at Sosho and Breakfast at The Egg are the tip of the iceberg. This guy has played all over clubbing Mecca Ibiza and churned out tune after tune on the coolest labels around including Inferno and Kidology. Joining him on the decks for your clubbing pleasure is German techno goddess Miss Divine. With a residency at Defected and a back catalogue of gigs at the hottest clubs around expect to hear some serious musical gems spilling from the 54 speakers. Formula is set to go off!

Legendary party Muak founders Zaki and Manish are this week joined by Parisian deep house lover DJ Fudge. Defected resident, producer and composer Fudge has been involved in the scene for years with music spreading through genres from funk to disco and then to house. Arranging parties in Paris since the tender age of 16, there’s not much this guy doesn’t know about the importance of good music and good people. Muak, meaning ‘Bringing People Together’ intends to do just that, so nothing will set you up for Christmas like this gathering of all things musical, exciting and friendly about the underground community, and there’s no better venue than the intimate and endlessly cool Bar 54.

Tonight sees legendary Ibiza institution, Café Mambo, bring their cool, sunset party vibe to 54. The café that has superstar DJs elbowing each other aside to get to the decks and countless A list stars gracing its infamous doors is taking their party global and next stop…London. Hitting the decks will be DJ/Producer Phil Drummond. This guy has played at the hottest clubs in Ibiza including Space and Amnesia as well as releases on labels such as Kidology and Inferno, add to this his background in arranging seriously cool London parties such as Retox at Sosho and you can have one impressive background. Alongside Phil is another music legend Paul Jackson, he’s remixed for such artists as Justin Timberlake and Ultra Nate as well as countless releases of his own. These two guys alongside Café Mambo equates to one slick, house affair.

His career has seen him play at some of the coolest underground parties including Soul City and the Miami Music Conference as well as set up his own record label, Hustle Music. Pablo Martinez is also stopping by, this DJ/Producer is seriously hot property right now with a back catalogue of the coolest gigs and releases it’s now wonder he’s the name on everyone’s lips. London DJ legend Sy Sez has played for every cool club in the capital, his deep, soulful sound earned him a place in production team, The Fanatix and his new outfit, AphroDisiax are quickly earning a following in the London underground scene. With a lineup like this 54 have hit the nail on the head and the dark surroundings of the red basement provide the perfect setting for some seriously deep grooves.
