We Fear Silence Present: Buzzin' Fly - 2009/04/08 13:33
Ben Watt's Buzzin' Fly returns to its new London home, The Arches on Southwark St London Bridge on May 1 for their second party of the year. Over a thousand rocked up to the launch in March at the revived three-room venue, packing out the atmospheric brick-vaulted spaces and reveling in the heavy sound of the spanking new Nexo Geo soundsystem.
For their second visit Ben Watt is set to drop another trademark set of deep percolating house and techno, and invites Germany's Stefan Goldmann to join him in the main room. From early killers on Classic Recordings such as 'Missing Days', through his acclaimed 'Sleepy Hollow' on Dixon's Innervisions, to his recent album and singles output on Mule Electronic and his own Macro label, Goldmann remains a deadly sonic arranger and DJ, forward-thinking yet comfortably versed in house and techno's underground history. His upcoming remix of for Underground Resistance's Santiago Salazar ('Arcade') will set the bar even higher. Buzzin' Fly resident Chris Woodward, fresh from the acclaim surrounding his debut mix for the label, joins the dots.
In the second room, Buzzin' Fly welcomes a centrepiece set from the young Berlin luminary Sven Weisemann. Counting Michael Nyman, Osunlade and Juan Atkins among his influences, his slo-mo deep dubby releases on his own Mojuba Records such as 'Kiss Of Abana' and his expert vinyl-cutmaster style DJ sets have been widely regarded as some of the most oven-fresh sounds to emerge from Germany recently. Joining him will be London's red-hot Allez-Allez aka Sam Willis and Steve Nolan (masterminds behind their own superb wide-ranging music blog and associated parties featuring guests such as The Field and Nathan Fake) with a basement party mix of modern electronic disco and skewed Kraut-techno.
In room 3, We Fear Silence introduce London boat party and backroom house dons, Coordinated. Buzz buzz!
