For too long, guitar-fancying indie types have been the designers behind the best contemporary urban clothing, leaving electronica fans feeling a little left out. March 2009 saw all that change, though, with the launch of Dirty Smart: a t-shirt label by clubbers, for clubbers. The self proclaimed ‘electro house clothing label’ has hit the ground running with its first collection of sharp print tees having already gathered a slew of high profile DJ endorsements.
With 'Top Tee' awards from Zoo magazine and Mixmag secured in the week of their launch, it’s no wonder a house jock with releases on Subliminal and Toolroom behind him, Birmingham’s’ Funkagenda, has been quick on the up-take. March 6th saw Dirty Smart launch at the Mint Lounge in Manchester, with guest DJs Kurd Maverick, Filthy Rich and Bass Weazal rocking the dance floor until 5am - looking sharp all the while in a selection of Dirty Smart tees. Each design is limited to 2, 500 units to avoid market saturation, and you can even enter a competition to have your design rolled out courtesy of Dirty Smart later on this summer.
