Bitch’s takeover of dance floors in Ibiza (BoHo) and Leeds (Kerbkrawler) is irrelevant tonight, as they host their home crowd, in their hometown, with a Bitch debutant featuring in the line-up. Sankey’s is a rave dungeon with acid allure and a house music history to rival the best, so it’s no wonder Bitch feels at home there. With their illuminating past guests (Sinden, Laidback Luke, Jon Carter, Axwell to pick a few) and no shit attitude to shape shifting and funny frolics, this month’s event is not set to disappoint.
Headlining the madness is one half of 90’s super duo, Josh Gabriel (minus Dresden) who has evolved as an artist from his commercial and trance hay day, into an emotive techno man who released his recent LP on the cover of DJ Mag, they thought it so good. The man puts his degree in music composition to good use when weaving a set, as he constructs and dismantles moods and tones using an array of sonic wizardry, just for your listening and dancing pleasure.
The Bitch debut comes from Richard Dinsdale who’ll be at the controls of Spektrum, upstairs. His back story is strong: residencies at Ministry of Sound, productions on Toolroom, Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best and slots in DJ booths in Indonesia, Eastern Europe and Australia all memories now, but have got him where he is today atop the 4/4 table, munching with the big boys. With his flair for surprise, penchant for slices of techno and love of electro shards, he’s a varied house jock who’ll tickle each and every fancy of this month’s BITCHES.
As well as the usual residents who’ll work the filthy, dirty groove Bitch adores, there’ll be H2 and his heavy sac of techno gems backing up Josh Gabriel in the main room, snuggled in amongst the low ceilings and pulsing heart of Sankeys.
All this is likely irrelevant, though, as anyone who’s anyone knows all about the Bitch attitude to partying. And if you don’t, it’s time you found out before you start to look silly.
