After making their marks on the charts four years ago with "Right On", Silicone Soul is back with their new album "Staring into Space".
Their musical style falls somewhere between the deep beats of Jazzanova and the progressive house sound of Circulation.
Staring Into Space completely holds onto their funk inspired past and combines modern day electric sounds to bring together a truly great album.
They have given us a mixture of dubbed out grooves with Folie A Deux, Smoke And Mirrors and Inferno as well as a nice sensitive house sound. In "Los Nocturned" they have mixed the sound of live music with some tripped out soundscapes. On the great track "Under A Werewolf Moon" we find a resemblance to the 1980s acid house sound combined with a harmonious track that has been modernized for the electronic music fans of today.
In their single "Feeling Blue", Graeme Reedie and Craig Morrison come together again with Louise Marshall (from "Right On") to create a very striking piece of music that brings together sounds of funky guitar, disco and house. In the only other full vocal track "You Can't Lose What You Never Had" we find a dreary and out of lace sound when compared to the rest of the album. It seems to be the only scar on this otherwise good sounding multi genre album that combines essentials of funk and jazz with ambient, house and pop.
