These Grammy Award winners have finally released a follow up to their 1998 Junk Science album, which can be attributed to dance music's current fascination of rock guitar riffs.
This new album "George Is On" could well help to launch one Deep Dish's most successful periods to date.
In the track entitled "Say Hello" we find an unearthly performance by vocalist Anousheh Khalili. This is combined with a soothing background of classical piano sounds and will definitely add fuel to the flame to enhance their chart stature.
While constantly being categorized into the deep-house arena, this Washington based duo refuses to allow their music to be created based on what's hot and what's not.
They have a sound that encompasses a variety of musical genres which mirrors their own wide ranging interests.
This album truly reaches out to a wide audience with their rock sounding track "Sacramento" to the electro sound of "Everybody's Wearing My Head" to the house sound of "Dub Shepherd."
And to our complete surprise you can even find a folk sound in the track "Awake Enough" as well as sad ambience with "In Love With a Friend." And don't forget the movie like soundscapes of "Sergio's Theme." To add to the mix there is even a guest appearance from Stevie Nicks on a rousing cover of "Dreams."
Many of Dubfire and Sharam's productions tend to have an extravagant and larger-than-life sort of feel due to the duo's gift for genre mixing. This skill has seemingly pulled them up and above some of their chart topping colleagues.
What we have here is anything but a collection of club tunes.
The air smells of success for Deep Dish and will surely be quick to move them in a positive direction. |
